Europe leads the way of green initiatives worldwide!
The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) has released a report - Seven Climate Change Lessons from the Cities of Europe -analysing the responses from the 22 European cities that replied to its global information request. The report concludes that European cities have had an impact on global climate change efforts. One reason is that the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group, an organisation of cities dedicated to reducing GHG emissions, currently counts 17 member cities in Europe, more than in any other region of the world. Another direct way to reduce carbon emissions is to use refurbished IT hardware. There is such an oversupply of hardware worldwide that you can purchase almost any IT equipment that you want to purchase new, as refurbished. DURABILIT (http://www.durabilit.eu) is a company that has developed a CO2 calculator that shows how much CO2 is reduced when you use refurbished hardware. They have also been nominated recently for the European Sustainable Energy Award (http://www.eusew.eu) which is an initiative that is organised by the European Commission.
