A study carried out between December 2012 and January 2013 among Swiss hotels shows the increasing economic importance of e-Tourism, in particular on-line booking. Booking.com is the most frequently used OTA (on-line travel agency) in Switzerland.
According to the study's data, its market share among OTA increased from 53% to 67%. Moreover, The total amount of commissions paid to intermediaries by Swiss hotels add up to estimated 194 million francs of which 124 million francs were spent for commission payments to online channels. That means serious business for e-Tourism and on-line travel agencies!
