European e-Competence Framework (e-CF), version 2.0 published

The new and improved version of the European e-Competence Framework (e-CF), version 2.0 is now available on www.ecompetences.eu. The newly published version of the framework builds upon the original e-CF version 1.0 and it takes into account experience and feedback from ICT stakeholders across Europe and overseas. Apart from minor changes to wordings of different descriptors and the set up of a general methodology how to apply the framework, the new framework includes 4 new competence descriptors.

Generally, the eCF is a reference framework of 36 ICT competences that can be used and understood by ICT user and supply companies, the public sector, education and social partners across Europe. The framework is targeted at four main groups of stakeholders:
  1. ICT practitioners and managers to whom it provides clear guidelines for their competence development
  2. Human resource managers to whom it enables the anticipation and planning of competence requirements
  3. Education and training providers (VET institutions) to whom it serves as a tool for planning and design of ICT curricula
  4. Policy makers and market researchers to whom it provides a clear and Europe-wide agreed reference for ICT skills and competences in a long-term perspective.
The full framework as well as the methodology are available for download at www.ecompetences.eu.
